Guide to using military binoculars: Do you really know how to use them?

Military telescopes are not only for observing distant targets, they also have a variety of measurement functions. Today, I will teach you how to use military telescopes correctly!

Adjust the eye distance:

First, adjust the positive and negative diopter scales of the left and right eyepieces of the telescope to 0 scale. Then, hold the left and right mirror bodies of the telescope with both hands and look for distant targets. Pull or press the left and right mirror bodies at the same time to make the eye distance of the telescope the same as the pupil distance of the human eye (the full field of view seen by the human eye is circular), and stop adjusting.

Adjust the image:

After searching for the target and locking it, turn the left eyepiece diopter handwheel to make the target image and the graticule image of the left branch system of the telescope completely clear. Then turn the right eyepiece diopter handwheel to make the target image of the right branch system completely clear. In this way, you have completed the adjustment of the target. Since the optical path design of the telescope has a dynamic automatic focusing function, there is no need to refocus when observing targets at different distances again.

Measuring the direction angle:

The direction angle refers to the angle between the two targets to be measured (or the two ends of a target in the horizontal direction) and the telescope on the horizontal plane. When the direction angles of the two targets are smaller than the angular measurement range of the telescope, align the scale line on one end of the reticle with the target (target 1), and then look at the value of the other target (target 2) aligned with the scale line, which is the measured angular digit.

Measuring the elevation angle:

The elevation angle refers to the angle between any two targets (or the two ends of a target) and the telescope on the vertical plane. When the elevation angle of the target is relatively small, align the cross center of the reticle (or any scale line) with the bottom of the target, and look at the scale value between the corresponding reticle scale line above the target, which is the measured elevation angle digit.

Measuring distance:

Use the sight line curve to measure the distance. When the target height is 2m, align the lower end of the target with the horizontal line of the sight line, and the reading at the tangent point between the upper end of the target and the sight line is the distance between the target and the observer.

Through these steps, you can make full use of the various functions of the military telescope, whether it is bird watching, outdoor activities or military use, you can do it with ease!
