Recently, the Nanjian Management Bureau of Wuliangshan Nature Reserve has fully completed the grid layout of infrared cameras, achieving full coverage of infrared camera network monitoring of wild animals in the reserve.
Since April 2018, the Reserve Management Bureau has invested more than 700,000 yuan and completed the network layout of infrared cameras in December this year. In the next step, infrared camera technology will be used as the main means to establish technical specifications for digital monitoring of wild animals in the entire reserve, and infrared camera monitoring data will be used to develop a digital monitoring platform for wild animals and build a digital monitoring demonstration reserve for wild animals.
The infrared camera layout this time strictly follows the requirements for the standardization and digital construction of nature reserves. The Reserve Management Bureau has formulated a kilometer grid monitoring implementation plan, and carried out long-term network monitoring of large and medium-sized ground mammals and bird resources in the entire Nanjian Wuliangshan Reserve according to the kilometer grid. At the same time, the "Forest Ranger Management Assessment Measures" and "Infrared Camera Management Measures" were formulated to strengthen the assessment and management of forest rangers. So far, a total of 27,613 valid pictures and 9,467 valid videos of wildlife monitoring have been collected, including the gray leaf monkey, a national first-class protected animal; the black-necked long-tailed pheasant, a national first-class protected bird; and the video and picture materials of rare protected animals such as the silver pheasant, the red-bellied tragopan, the jungle fowl, and the sparrowhawk, a national second-class protected bird.
