Working principle

At night, without any artificial lighting, the scenery (or target) in the natural environment is illuminated by starlight, moonlight and atmospheric glow. While being illuminated, the scenery also emits or reflects light into space.

When the objective lens of the observation mirror receives light from the scene (or target), it images it on the cathode surface of the image intensifier that coincides with the image plane of the objective lens. When the image intensifier receives this weak optical image, it converts it into an electronic image, which is then enhanced tens of thousands of times by the strong electric field of the electronic optical system inside the image intensifier. An optical image with enhanced brightness is obtained on the fluorescent screen of the image intensifier, thereby realizing the conversion of optical image-electronic image-optical image and brightness enhancement, and then further magnified through the eyepiece for human eye observation.


Preventive maintenance inspection

The purpose of preventive maintenance inspection is to timely discover hidden dangers and eliminate faults as early as possible, so that the observation mirror can always maintain a good working condition. Preventive maintenance inspection is generally carried out before and after the observation mirror is stored for a long time, or before and after long-term transportation. The focus is on checking the outer surface of the observation mirror and its accessories and the surface of the optical parts, and checking whether there is dirt, dust, fingerprints and watermarks on the surface. If foreign matter is found, it should be wiped carefully.

1. Wipe test

If the user finds dirt on the outer surface of the observation mirror and its accessories and the surface of the optical parts during the preventive inspection, they should wipe it carefully. The wiping method is as follows:

a. Optical parts surface

First use a brush to remove dust, then use clean lens paper to wipe the dirt on the surface of the optical parts, or use a clean flannel cloth dipped in some alcohol to wipe it, and it is absolutely not allowed to touch it with your fingers.

b. Non-optical parts fur surface

Wipe the surface of non-optical parts with a clean cloth, or use a clean cloth dipped in some water to wipe it. It is strictly forbidden to wipe the outer surface of the observation mirror with alcohol or gasoline.

2. Storage

a. When the observation mirror is stored in the warehouse, the temperature in the warehouse is between 6 and 30℃, the relative humidity is not more than 70%, the warehouse should maintain air circulation, and corrosive and volatile chemicals such as acids, alkalis, and salts should not be stored at the same time.

b. The observation mirror should not be close to the stove or other heating equipment, and should be at least 1.6m away from the heat source. The observation mirror should not be placed directly on the ground without a pad or close to the wall to avoid moisture.
