Recently, the low-light-level night vision device measuring device developed by the China National Institute of Metrology successfully passed the expert appraisal organized by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.
Low-light-level night vision devices are photoelectric imaging instruments used for target observation at night without artificial lighting, and are important equipment for capturing images in low-light environments. In order to unify the measurement values of low-light photometry, ensure the uniformity and traceability of the measurement values of the low-light-level night vision industry, and evaluate the performance of various low-light-level night vision devices and low-light imaging systems, my country urgently needs to establish a low-light-level night vision device measurement standard device and a simple on-site evaluation device.
To this end, the China National Institute of Metrology conducted research on low-light-level night vision device measuring devices in 2008, focusing on the simulation of night vision environment, the test of optical performance parameters of night vision devices, and simple low-light-level photometry/radiometry measuring instruments.
The project team focused on the measurement of photoelectric performance parameters of low-light level night vision devices, and at the same time expanded the measurement objects to the measurement and evaluation of photoelectric performance parameters of various photoelectric imaging systems and core devices, and established a low-light level night vision device measurement device and a night vision radiation brightness measurement device for the first time.
According to the project leader, Xu Yingying, associate researcher at the Institute of Optics, China Institute of Metrology, the project has achieved innovations in three aspects: first, the low-light-level night vision device is suitable for the traceability of the photometric and radiometric values of the low-light-level night vision industry, and the test level of related parameters has entered the international advanced ranks; second, a night vision radiance measurement device has been established to complete the value transfer of spectral radiance under weak light illumination; third, an adjustable integrating sphere light source for real environment spectrum simulation has been developed.
