ONICK has developed a ground-based panoramic night vision device called the NVG-JY.The purpose of the NVG-JY is to provide the operator with more information under the goggles so that he can pass through the OODA loop (Observe, Orient, Decide, Act) faster. The most notable feature of the NVG-JY is the presence of four independent image intensifier tubes with four separate objective lenses arranged in panoramic orientation. The two lenses in the center point forward like traditional double-tube goggles to give the operator more depth perception, while the other two lenses point slightly outward from the center to increase the peripheral field of view. The two tubes on the right and the two tubes on the left are spliced at the eyepiece. The operator sees the two center tubes overlap somewhat with the two outer tubes, producing an unprecedented 120° FOV.This is definitely a game changer for the SOF community. The two right and two left tubes are mounted in a merged assembly and suspended from a bridge, providing operators with interpupillary adjustment options. They can also be easily removed and operated as standalone handheld viewers. The IPD for both systems can be adjusted on the helmet mount.
